Meet Our Multicultural Liaison Officer: Yueming Song

Our school’s Multicultural Liaison Officer (MLO) supports newcomer students and families with settlement services, navigating the school system, language interpretation, and more.

The Multicultural Liaison Officer (MLO) program provides support in multiple languages for students and families who are newcomers and refugees. The Multicultural Liaison Officer works with school staff to welcome newcomer families and connect them with important services, resources, and supports within our school and in the local community.

Yueming Song is the Multicultural Liaison Officer at our school. Yueming speaks Mandarin Chinese, English and daily Korean and can also help you access support in other languages.

Yueming is here to support families with:

  • Settlement services

  • Navigating the school system

  • Language and cultural interpretation

  • Accessing community services

  • Filling out school forms

  • Parent-teacher interviews

  • Getting involved at school, and more!

MLO Yueming SongBio:

Yueming has been with OCISO since 2022 and she loves working closely with her MLO colleagues. 

Before joining OCISO, Yueming worked as a Rover Scout leader in South Korea for 3 years. Yueming has a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies and Masters of Arts in Migration and Diaspora Studies.

In their free time, Yueming enjoys skiing, quilling, gardening and kayaking. She believes that “life is just a series of trying to make up your mind.
