Our School

Maple Ridge ES

We would like to acknowledge that our schools are on unceded Algonquin Territory, and thank the Algonquin Nation for hosting us on their land.

Our School

Opened in September 1999, Maple Ridge is a facility nestled in the growing community of Fallingbrook South in Orléans. We are proud of our two-storey building, which is designed around a pod concept with four wings. Each wing is occupied by classes from various grade levels. We are fortunate to have an adjacent park, which we share with our community, as well as a Community Centre built as part of the school, which offers us some unique and specialized facilities, such as a skating rink and three tennis courts.

Our Students

Maple Ridge has an enrollment of approximately 540  students from junior kindergarten to grade 8. We have classes in the regular English program, Early French Immersion, as well as one classrooms for our Primary, Junior and Intermediate students with Developmental Disabilities. When our students graduate, most go to Sir Wilfred Laurier Secondary School. Some students attend OTSS, Canterbury, Colonel By, Cairine Wilson and Gloucester High Schools.

Our focus for our students is aiming for excellence in academic achievement as well as providing opportunities for character development. We strengthen positive student interactions on a regular basis by recognizing students for making the right choices and designing activities and opportunities to reinforce school and classroom expectations. The character traits that we strive to model are demonstrated by the staff and, as much as possible, are embedded in the content and the manner in which the teachers deliver the curriculum. This has helped to set the tone for a very positive and happy learning environment for staff and students at Maple Ridge.

Our Staff

The staff at Maple Ridge is composed of teachers, educational assistants, early childhood educators, a part-time library technician, office and custodial personnel and administrators. They bring a variety of talents and skills to our school community and our students. Everyone on staff seeks opportunities for professional development through workshops, university courses, shared book clubs and conferences. Many of our teachers participate in mentoring student teachers in partnership with the University of Ottawa and other post-secondary institutions. Dedicated, committed to excellence, respectful, fair, and hard -working are but a few words to describe our team at Maple Ridge.

Our Community

The Maple Ridge family community represents a rich diversity of people. Every day we welcome many parent and community volunteers into our school to work with our students and staff. The Maple Ridge School Council is a group of dedicated parents, community members and school staff committed to the education of our children. We meet monthly in the school library or virtually and all parents are welcome. At the end of the year, a report is submitted to the school community detailing current year activities and expenditures.

Mission Statement

As a community of learners, we strive for and celebrate excellence in a diversity of ways and in all aspects of daily life. We are committed to developing community connections and philanthropic goals and ideology. Our slogan is “Aiming for Excellence.”
