Grade 7 Immunizations

Grade 7 & 8 Immunizations
Posted on 01/05/2021

Ottawa Public Health (OPH) will be providing catch-up clinics in January, by appointment only, for all grade 7 and 8 students who have not yet received their meningococcal vaccine, the vaccine that protects against four strains of meningitis infection (Menactra®). OPH is prioritizing the meningococcal vaccine since children of this age group are at higher risk of developing invasive meningococcal disease.

Normally students receive vaccinations for Human Papillomavirus (HPV), Hepatitis B and Meningococcal in grade 7 at school clinics provided by Ottawa Public Health throughout the school year. However, school clinics are currently on hold due the pandemic.

Clinics will be held in early January at various fixed locations across the city. To avoid crowding, clinics will be by appointment only, 5 days a week including daytime, evening and weekend appointments. Appointment bookings will be available using an online booking system and by phone at 613-580-6744 starting Wednesday, December 23 at 10am. Please visit our website for the latest information:

If you have any questions about your child’s vaccination, please call Ottawa Public Health at 613-580-6744 to speak with a Public Health Nurse.
